Coming Soon: June 7th

Coming Soon: June 7th

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. X-Men: Dark Phoenix - The final installment in the X-Men series before they become a part of the MCU family, X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters this Friday and looks to close out the series in a big way.

2. The Secret Life of Pets 2 - The first film did well with audiences and critics, and with a sequel featuring Harrison Ford, the film looks to draw in the families for awhile to come.

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. Godzilla: King of the Monsters - The sequel to the first Godzilla film is finally hitting theaters on Friday. What's interesting about this film is that Warner Bros. has already announced the follow-up to this film - Godzilla v. Kong. We'll have to see how this film does and whether that impacts the Godzilla and Kong film.

2. Ma - The Octavia Spencer-led horror film hits theaters on Friday. It's not getting the critical acclaim that a film with Octavia Spencer might have had, but horror fans might come to theaters to check out the movie.

3. Rocketman - The film hoping to be the next Bohemian Rhapsody hits theaters, starring Taron Egerton as Elton John. With the rave reviews, this film could sneakily enter the top five in the box office for a long time to come.

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. Pokemon: Detective PIkachu - The film looks like it's going to dethrone Avengers: Endgame at the number one spot, but it won't make nearly as much money as it could have. Regardless, a positive word-of-mouth and good marketing will lead this film to a good box office return.

2. The Hustle - On the other end of the spectrum, Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson star in the comedy that looks to rake in some box office returns against both Detective Pikachu and Avengers: Endgame.

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. Avengers: Endgame: There is only one. There is only one. No other big film is willing to open anywhere near this film because they know how absolutely enormous this movie is going to be. This is going to the film of the year, and perhaps even the defining film of the decade as it wraps up 22 MCU films in an unprecedented fashion. Look for this film to nearly hit 300 million at the box office.

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. The Curse of La Llorona: The horror film is not receiving good reviews at all, but regardless, this is the film that people would be seeing this weekend. It's a relatively well=known name, with some decent marketing, but don't expect it to make a ton of money either. But it's there.

2. Breakthrough: This is the definition of counter-programming. The Christian film based on a true story also opens this weekend, and it will attract a huge audience of religious people to go see it.

Coming Soon: August 13th

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. The Meg: The Jason Statham-led monster movie sets sail and hits theaters this Friday. In a relatively quiet month of August, this has the potential to be one of the bigger movies to go out and see. This could even dethrone Mission: Impossible - Fallout, although my money is still on Mission: Impossible - Fallout to win the weekend. But look for the latest shark film to take a bite out of the box office; while clearly not for everyone, it has the widest appeal of any movie opening this weekend.

2. Slender Man: Perhaps a very niche film, for those who enjoy the horror genre, Slender Man will quietly hit theaters, and if you enjoy this kind of movie, then this will be right up your alley. It's the only other "big" film that's opening this weekend, but even so, don't expect for this movie to make a lot or be received with the same critical warmth as previous films in the summer.

Coming Soon: July 13th

Every Tuesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. Skyscraper: This is perhaps the biggest film that's coming out. Dwayne Johnson has kept himself busy over the past few years and he has yet another blockbuster hitting theaters in the form of Skyscraper. If you don't feel like watching Incredibles, Jurassic World, or Ant-Man, perhaps Skyscraper is the film for you. It certainly fills out the blockbuster spot that was taken by Ant-Man and the Wasp last week.

2. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation: The only other film worth watching in terms of major tentpole film could potentially be Hotel Transylvania 3. While this film (in terms of quality) looks awful, this is the perfect film to take kids to. Granted, I would recommend Ant-Man and the Wasp over this, since the trailers for this movie look absolutely atrocious, but regardless, this is opening this Friday.

Coming Soon: July 6th

Coming Soon: July 6th

Every Tuesday or Wednesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing.

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: This is the film to see this weekend; every week throughout the summer, there's at least one blockbuster that hits theaters, and this weekend, Ant-Man and the Wasp swings (shrinks?) into cinemas. Starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the 20th film in the MCU and the sequel to the surprise hit Ant-Man

2. The First Purge: The other "big" film hitting theaters, The First Purge is the fourth film in the Purge series that has received mixed reviews but good enough box office success. There is some appeal for this type of concept, where citizens are allowed to run amuck and kill whoever they like. While this film currently stands at a 46 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it will likely make a good deal of money at the box office just because of the fanbase. This is good counter-programming from Ant-Man and the Wasp, and will hit theaters on Friday.

3. Sorry To Bother You: The only other notable film of interest to me is Sorry To Bother You. The only reason this is on my radar is simply because of the good critical reception; it holds a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The concept for the film is interesting, and if the two big films aren't doing it for you, then perhaps this will be worth your while.
