Coming Soon: July 6th

Every Tuesday or Wednesday, I will be breaking down the top films hitting theaters that coming Friday. There are a large number of films that open every weekend, so I will highlight the films that I believe will be worth seeing. 

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: This is the film to see this weekend; every week throughout the summer, there's at least one blockbuster that hits theaters, and this weekend, Ant-Man and the Wasp swings (shrinks?) into cinemas. Starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the 20th film in the MCU and the sequel to the surprise hit Ant-Man. 

2. The First Purge: The other "big" film hitting theaters, The First Purge is the fourth film in the Purge series that has received mixed reviews but good enough box office success. There is some appeal for this type of concept, where citizens are allowed to run amuck and kill whoever they like. While this film currently stands at a 46 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it will likely make a good deal of money at the box office just because of the fanbase. This is good counter-programming from Ant-Man and the Wasp, and will hit theaters on Friday. 

3. Sorry To Bother You: The only other notable film of interest to me is Sorry To Bother You. The only reason this is on my radar is simply because of the good critical reception; it holds a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The concept for the film is interesting, and if the two big films aren't doing it for you, then perhaps this will be worth your while.
