Weekend Box Office Report (June 7th - June 9th)

Weekend Box Office Report (June 7th - June 9th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. The Secret Life of Pets 2 ($47.11 Million): While the film didn't do quite as well as the first, The Secret Life of Pets, the film took the number one spot at the box office, beating a major comic book film for the first time in awhile. Look for it to be dethroned when Toy Story 4 hits theaters.

2. Dark Phoenix ($33.00 Million): Dark Phoenix bombed. There's absolutely no way around it. The film, which was the final X-Men team movie before Disney gets the characters back, will be in the top five for a week or so, but not for a lot longer.

3. Aladdin ($24.50 Million): Aladdin is flying sky-high. Aladdin is tearing up the box office in ways that Dumbo couldn't, and in my opinion, deservedly so. The film has proven it has legs, and looks to be going strong through the rest of the summer. 700 million? Not out of question.

4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters ($15.40 Million): If this film were good, this film could've been in the number three, even number two spot EASILY. But the fact is that the sequel is not being received well, and thus, the box office results reflects that.

5. Rocketman ($14.00 Million): Rocketman will not have legs for much longer, but it will do well. It will continue to make money at the box office, but again, let's not kid ourselves; it will not be the next Bohemian Rhapsody

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (June 7th - June 9th)

Every week, I look at the films opening this week as well as the films that have already opened to predict which films will be in the top 10. Let's take a look.

1. The Secret Life of Pets 2 - Surprisingly, the comic book movie out this weekend is not set to take the number one spot. The animated sequel, The Secret Life of Pets 2 is looking to snatch the number one spot out of Dark Phoenix's hands.

2. X-Men: Dark Phoenix - While perhaps not taking the number one spot, Dark Phoenix should have a decently large opening weekend. While projected to be the lowest in the franchise, it will be enough to get it to the number two spot.

3. Aladdin - Aladdin will continue rolling until Toy Story 4 hits theaters. The film appeals to the widest audience this weekend, from young and old alike, and looks to continue their box office success.

4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters - While not the most successful film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters looks to stick in the top 5 at the box office this weekend as well.

5. Rocketman - The biopic about the legend Elton John, starring Taron Egerton, will be in the top five for another weekend. Look for it to have long legs, but ultimately, drop steadily at the box office.

Weekend Box Office Report (May 31st - June 2nd)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Godzilla: King of the Monsters ($49.03 Million): While the latest film in the monster-verse has indeed reached the number one spot in the box office, make no mistake, it has massively underperformed. The film came in well under the 55-70 million industry projections. While Godzilla v. Kong has already been shot, this is sure to make Warner Bros. nervous.

2. Aladdin (2019) ($42.34 Million): Despite being in the number two spot, it almost beat the King of the Monsters. Coming less than 10 million dollars away from taking the top spot, despite some mixed critical reception, Aladdin will continue to make money and appeal to the family audience (at least until The Lion King).

3. Rocketman ($25.00 Million): Rocketman was not expected to make 100 million opening weekend, but 25 does seem a little less than the studio would have wanted, ESPECIALLY after the huge success of Bohemian Rhapsody. Look for the film to come in under 200 million worldwide.

4. Ma ($18.26 Million): I personally didn't expect this to come into the top 5, especially with Avengers: Endgame, but Ma, despite the critical panning, has come in at the number 4 spot.

5. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum ($11.10 Million): John Wick 3 is continuing to tear through the box office. Keanu Reeves has never been bigger, and I think while the film won't make 500 million worldwide, it will be enough to greenlight John Wick 4

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (May 31st - June 2nd)

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (May 31st - June 2nd)

Every week, I look at the films opening this week as well as the films that have already opened to predict which films will be in the top 10. Let's take a look.

1. Godzilla: King of the Monsters - The latest film to feature the king himself, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will make a fair amount of money at the box office, well enough to be in the number one spot fairly easily. However, with the mixed reception, I don't envision the film staying in that spot for much longer. Or even in the top 5, especially as summer ramps and X-Men: Dark Phoenix arrives in a week.

2. Aladdin (2019) - Even though critics may not be enjoying the movie as much as some other audience members are, the film has such a positive word of mouth at the moment amongst casual viewers. I haven't met anyone who hasn't enjoyed the film, and I think that the family appeal will see Aladdin take the number two spot in its second weekend.

3. Rockeman - Don't look now, but we could have another Bohemian Rhapsody on our hands. Bohemian Rhapsody, which made just shy of 900 million at the box office, revitalized the genre of biopics. Rocketman, with the critical acclaim that it's getting, looks to capitalize on this. If it's good, and if it can maintain its legs, look for this film to stick around for a long time to come.

4. John Wick: Chapter 3 - It was either John Wick or the Avengers. I could see both films making about 12 million dollars at the box office next weekend. Ultimately, even though Avengers is still huge and is going to eventually catch up to Avatar, John Wick: Chapter 3 has an energy surrounding it. And besides, it's been in theaters much less than the Avengers film has. So look for it to edge out the Avengers for at least one more week.

5. Avengers: Endgame - But Endgame isn't going anywhere, not for awhile. It's going to be in the top 5 for another week at least, and the top ten for a LONG time, at least until it hits the Avatar record.

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (May 10th - May 12th)

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (April 26th - April 28th)

Every Friday, I look at the films opening this week as well as the films that have already opened to predict which films will be in the top 10. Let's take a look.

1. Pokemon: Detective Pikachu - The Ryan Reynolds-led film will rake in some money this weekend and probably dethrone Avengers: Endgame from the number one spot. While it will be extremely close (a lot closer than we had originally thought), I think it's a safe bet that Detective Pikachu will make good money based on good will from the Pokemon fanbase.

2. Avengers: Endgame - But regardless, Avengers: Endgame is going to stick for a LONG time. This weekend is no different. On its crusade to take over Avatar and probably hit 3 billion, it's going to be in the number two spot.

3. The Hustle - The other big film opening this weekend is the comedy, The Hustle. The film is counter programming, so the top two films won't really affect the box office all too much, which is why it will comfortably be in the number 3 spot.

4. Uglydolls - The other biggest counter-programming film, Uglydolls, looks to daw in the children's audience for a second weekend. While it won't make a ton of money at all, it's going to be here.

5. Long Shot - This film is in the top five only because of good word-of-mouth. The film above it this weekend, The Intruder, has been critically panned, and I think that Long Shot will overtake it.

Weekend Box Office Report (May 3rd - May 5th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Avengers: Endgame ($145.80 Million): On its way to 2 billion dollars, Avengers: Endgame has had another monstrous weekend, raking in more money than almost every other movie makes opening movie on its SECOND weekend.

2. The Intruder ($11.00 Million): I have no idea what this movie is, but again it wasn't going to do anything next to the monstrosity that is Avenges: Endgame.

3. Long Shot ($10.03 Million): I echo the sentiment for the number two spot.

4. Uglydolls ($8.51 Milllion): Uglydolls has made a showing as a form of counter programming. While making a very, very small amount of money, it has still made a presence based on the market for children's movies.

5. Captain Marvel ($4.28 Million): Captain Marvel is back again. It's in the top five again. But it looks like it's going to be gone after this week, with new releases.

Weekend Box Office (April 26th - April 28th)

Weekend Box Office Report (April 26th - April 28th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Avengers: Endgame ($357.00 Million): The 300 million dollar mark was said to never be breached, ever in the history of modern cinema. Even Avengers: Infinity War, which was perhaps one of the biggest movies ever, that was playing in every single cinema for opening weekend around the clock, was able to make $257 million. And yet, somehow, some way, Avengers: Endgame made the record look, for lack of a better word, absolutely stupid. Three hundred and FIFTY million dollars. THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY. If that doesn't scream success, I don't think anything does. I honestly don't.

2. Captain Marvel ($8.05 Million): And once again, Marvel making a statement; Captain marvel, the other Marvel movie in theaters right now, is at the number two spot, sneaking past Shazam!

3. The Curse of La Llorona ($7.50 Million): While I didn't expect the film to make the number three spot, I did know that the film would make some amount of money to be in the top 5. But then again, there was nothing stopping Endgame. This film will dip out sooner or later.

4. Breakthrough ($6.30 Million): The Christian movie continues to draw an audience. It's the most respectable showing at the box office since the recent film I Can Only Imagine.

5. Shazam! ($5.52 Million): Shazam! deserves better. It really does. I think out of the three comic book movies, it's the second best and I think that all three are great. Hopefullly this gives DC confidence though.

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (April 26th - April 28th)

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (April 26th - April 28th)

Every Friday, I look at the films opening this week as well as the films that have already opened to predict which films will be in the top 10. Let's take a look.

1. Avengers: Endgame: Was there any doubt? Ever? If there was a movie I was 100 percent confident in, it was this one. It's Avengers: Endgame. Enough said.

2. Captain Marvel: I'm taking a gamble on Captain Marvel reaching the number two spot, after dipping out of the top five just a week ago. But I have a theory about this, and that's what makes this a gamble. I think that people going to see Avengers: Endgame who haven't seen Captain Marvel will be interested to see the Brie Larson-led film after seeing Endgame, perhaps because of how cool she is in the Avengers. With Shazam!'s box office on the decline, and Captain Marvel's on the rise, it could happen. We'll see.

3. Shazam!: But if Captain Marvel makes it to the number 2 spot, Shazam will be close behind. Granted, neither will make the slightest speck of money because Avengers: Endgame will EAT up the box office. But it's going to be the weekend of comic book movies.

4. Breakthrough: I'm going to play it safe; with so many comic book movies out in theaters, and especially with all the money that Avengers: Endgame is about to take, the only way to make money this weekend is with counter-programming. What's more counter programming with a based on a true story Christian film? It was in the number 3 spot last weekend; I think it has a shot to be in the top 4.

5. The Curse of La Llorona: The only reason this film is here and not dipping out like Hellboy and Pet Semetary before it is because this is only the second weekend for the film. And because of that, while it will have an enormous drop, it could be enough to hold it in to the top 5 for one more week.

Weekend Box Office Report (April 19th - April 21st)

Weekend Box Office Report (April 19th - April 21st)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. The Curse of La Llorona ($26.51 Million): Consider me a little surprised. I didn't think this film had an initial buzz big enough to propel it to 25 million+, but here we are. The horror genre seems to be getting back on its feet, and it's exciting to see films like this get a boost at the box office, despite some critical response that may not have been so bright.

2. Shazam! ($17.34 Million): The film will hit a bulldozer come next week when Avengers: Endgame steamrolls over all the other competition, but it's hanging in there for now, at a respectable 17 million. It won't make much more than that, but it will indeed be profitable due to a small production budget.

3. Breakthrough ($11.10 Million): I underestimated this movie. I really did. This film looks like it's going to be a lot more successful than I though, just like the other Christian movie that came out a couple years ago, I Can Only Imagine

4. Captain Marvel ($9.10 Million): It's back! Captain Marvel is getting a boost from a slow weekend and the impending release of Avengers: Endgame. its place on the release schedule has also allowed it to cross 400 million worldwide, and it's not going to stop. I have a feeling that because of her role in Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel will get a little more of a boost in the weeks to come as well.

5. Little ($8.45 Million): Another film that I didn't think could make it to the top five, I believe that now this is the last week. But it made a respectable amount of money in the past couple weeks, and because of a smaller budget, looks to be fairly profitable.

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (April 19th - April 21st)

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (April 19th - April 21st)

Every Friday, I look at the films opening this week as well as the films that have already opened to predict which films will be in the top 10. Let's take a look.

1. Shazam!: This one's a no-brainer. It's an extremely quiet weekend, and Shazam! is the only big budget film that has a chance of wide appeal. It won't make a lot, but I would venture to say that 10-15 million would be extremely solid.

2. Hellboy: Despite the critical panning, I think the film still has the most recognizable IP out of all the other 4 options that I think it can (barely) make the number two spot. Hellboy is not going to be anywhere next weekend when Avengers: Endgame smashes every single record, but then again, neither will any of these films.

3. The Curse of La Llorona: There is a lot intrigue surrounding this film, but again, like Hellboy, it is getting critically panned. Then again, last weekend, Hellboy was in the number 3 spot, and I think The Curse of La Llorona has enough steam that it can sneak into the number 3 spot.

4. Pet Semetary: It's not the best weekend for horror. Pet Semetary wasn't the most well-received out of the bunch, but then again, it was better than The Cures of La Llorona and Hellboy. It's not the best time for horror right now. But it's another big name that people may want to check out over the weekend.

5. Breakthrough: This one is the only counter-programming film in the top five. Breakthrough is opening this weekend and I think there is an audience of Christian followers that would head out to see the film. It wouldn't be a lot, but it would be enough to hit the top 5.

Weekend Box Office Report (April 12th - April 14th)

Weekend Box Office Report (April 12th - April 14th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Shazam! ($24.45 Million): Shazam! entering its second weekend, riding the positive wave of critical acclaim, has comfortably made it to the top spot once again. Now, granted, there wasn't nearly any competition this weekend for the latest film in the DCEU. But it's still great to see the audience going out to see good films, despite some bad will still seeping in for the DCEU.

2. Little ($15.41 Million): Consider me a little surprised (no pun in tended) that this film was able to make 15 million. I didn't see much promotional material or marketing for this movie. But considering that the film got a lukewarm reception, I'm not sure how much longer that this movie will be up here. Perhaps one more week in the top five, but no more than that.

3. Hellboy (2019) ($12.05 Million): Speaking of critical panning, Hellboy comes in at the third spot. And that's about as high as it's ever going to get, because this film is getting destroyed by critics. A big budget film like this can only go as far as the critical reception will take it. And so, Hellboy looks like it's going downhill from here.

4. Pet Semetary ($9.75 Million): On the other side of that spectrum, Pet Semetary seems to be making a decent amount of money for tis small budget. The latest Stephen King adaptation looks to make a small profit as it hits theaters and leaves quietly. From the buzz, it looks like Pet Semetary might have some staying power as well though. Regardless, it's great to see the resurgence of horror as films like US and It: Chapter 2 are hitting theaters this year.

5. Dumbo ($9.40 Million): A film that I think deserved much better, Dumbo is hanging onto the top 5 by a thread. It almost overtook Pet Semetary, but I think it's safe to say that this film will not be very profitable for Disney, especially considering the larger budget that was allocated for the film.

Weekend Box Office Report (October 19th - October 21st)

Weekend Box Office Report (October 19th - October 21st)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Halloween (2018) ($77.50 Million): Michael Myers is back with a vengeance. The horror reboot came into theaters this weekend and raked in over 75 million dollars, surpassing any expectations that anyone ever had for the film. Because of the positive word of mouth, the film will look to maintain its box office success in the coming weeks, as it has already broken even by a mile.

2. A Star is Born ($19.50 Million): The Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga musical is continuing to do well, landing in the number two spot. The film, pushing more for awards buzz rather than box office, will continue to thrive in the coming weeks as well as little competition will enter the ring come November.

3. Venom ($18.05 Million): Despite the poor critical reception, the audiences have spoken and have propelled this film to be profitable. Sony will consider this a huge success as the film continues to make money, and this will serve as the catalyst to launch the shared Sony Spider-Man-Less-Verse.

4. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween ($9.72 Million): While the first movie didn't make a whole lot of money, it was clear that there was an audience for these kinds of films, and so a sequel was announced with a new cast, save for Jack Black returning as R.L. Stine. And while the film hasn't performed as well as the first, it has made a little bit of money to justify its existence. Don't look for this film to lead to a sequel though.

5. First Man ($8.57 Million): An early Oscar contender, First Man sees Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling return to headline the film about NASA sending the first man to the moon. This film will not make a ton of money, nor does it need to as it pushes for the major Oscar categories come next spring.

Weekend Box Office Report (August 31st - September 3rd)

Weekend Box Office Report (August 31st - September 3rd)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Crazy Rich Asians ($22.10 Million): The crazy sensation that is sweeping across the nation, the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians remains number one for the third straight weekend. Whatever the appeal may be, the film is raking in money week after week and has started a revolution for Asian actors and filmmakers everywhere; I equate this film's success to something like Black Panther, though these two are in completely different contexts.

2. The Meg ($10.54 Million): The Jason Stathem-led film is continuing to make money, despite lukewarm critical reception. It's sticking in the top five ever since its release. Granted, there wasn't much competition, but still. This film should be considered a success as it is.

3. Mission: Impossible - Fallout ($7.04 Million): The highest grossing Mission: Impossible film already, the sixth film in the franchise will for sure lead to a seventh. The film, deservedly-so, is making more money than all of the other fie films in the franchise.

4. Searching ($6.07 Million): Shoutout to this film; I have a connection to the filmmaker, and though I haven't met him, do know him indirectly. It's great to see a passion-project like this jump into the top five, standing next to films like Mission: Impossible. I hope this film goes on to not only make more money, but also find its ways on many people's screens across the globe.

5. Operation: Finale ($6.02 Million); The Ben Kingsley and Oscar Isaac led film slots in at number five. There isn't much to say about it; I doubt it will be staying here for long, but it took in a meager six million.

Weekend Box Office Report (August 3rd - August 5th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Mission: Impossible - Fallout ($35.00 Million): Looking to build off the success of the last weekend as well as the huge critical reception, Mission: Impossible - Fallout has deservedly taken the number one spot again. Since there is relatively little competition in the coming weeks, it looks to hold onto the spot for the majority of August, and at least stay in the top five throughout the rest of September.

2. Disney's Christopher Robin ($25.00 Million): While the film didn't receive high critical praise, Disney's Christopher Robin still made a decent 25 million at the domestic box office this past weekend. The family oriented film provided a good counter to all the other programming that was going on, which may entice families to come in the coming weeks as well. Look for this film to make a decent amount of money, maybe 100-200 million at the box office.

3. The Spy Who Dumped Me ($12.35 Million): The Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis led comedy slotted in nicely in the number three spot. It didn't make much, but it was more than many had anticipated. While this film will soon fade, it looks to capitalize on the hard-R comedy audience while it still can.

4. Mama Mia! Here We Go Again ($9.09 Million): Speaking of counter-programming, this musical sequel took the number 4 spot taking in another 9 million. It will quickly fade, but not before it has made its mark on the domestic box office.

5. The Equalizer 2 ($8.83 Million): And finally, the Denzel-led action thriller squeaks into the number five spot, barely missing 9 million. Look for this film to make another 20 million total at the domestic box office before concluding its run.

Weekend Box Office Report (July 27th - July 29th)

Weekend Box Office Report (July 27th - July 29th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Mission: Impossible - Fallout ($61.25 Million): Scoring the biggest opening of any film in the franchise, the Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, and Rebecca Ferguson led action blockbuster has thundered into theaters, taking in a huge 60+ million. Projections for the film landed it at around 40-50, so landing about 61 was a huge win for the movie, which looks to make over 600-700 million at the worldwide box office.

2. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again ($15.10 Million): Keeping its place in the number two spot, Mamma Mia 2 is hanging in there raking in another 15 million. The first film made over 600 million at the worldwide box office, and while this film may not make as much, it will certainly do well with a positive-mediocre critical reception.

3. The Equalizer 2 ($14.02 Million): Denzel Washington's latest film dropped from number one and dropped below to the number three spot, taking in 14 million. It just barely finished under Mamma Mia, but doesn't look to be going up at this point.

4. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation ($12.25 Million): The animated film that no one really cared about looks to have an audience. The children are going out to see this film, and it is continuing to make good money, possibly ensuring another sequel.

5. Teen Titans Go! To The Movies ($10.41 Million): Speaking of unexpected animated films, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies has received unexpected critical praise, holding a 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and just beating out Ant-Man and the Wasp for the number five spot. We'll have to see how long the reception and word of mouth will carry this film in the weeks to come.

Weekend Box Office Report (July 13th - July 15th)

Weekend Box Office Report (July 13th - July 15th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation ($44.10 Million): This one surprised me quite a bit. While I knew that this film would have a big market for the younger audiences, I didn't know that it would run off with the number one spot by almost double of number two. That being said, I don't believe this film will remain in the top 5 for long, perhaps another week or so.

2. Ant-Man and the Wasp ($28.84 Million): While making another 30 million dollars, Ant-Man and the Wasp took a 62 percent drop, which isn't quite ideal. While this film didn't have the expectations of Avengers: Infinity War, it would be a little concerning if the film performed under 300 million dollars worldwide. That being said, it has yet to open in many international markets for another few weeks, so it shouldn't have many problems.

3. Skyscraper ($25.49 Million): Dwayne Johnson's latest film is the next to join the disappointments as it staggers into the number 3 spot. This sort of proves that perhaps not every single Dwayne Johnson film is that marketable; everyone thought this would make another 10 - 15 million dollars more than it did, but it plopped into the number 3 spot.

4. Incredibles 2 ($16.22 Million): Still hanging ahead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Incredibles 2 may be the very reason that Ant-Man and the Wasp isn't quite performing as strong as it should, with a slightly higher critical rating and a huge box office draw so far. Until July 27th, this film will be in the top 5.

5. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($15.52 Million): Still raking in a ton of money, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is chugging along. Already at 1.1 billion, it will try to inch closer to the original film's historic 1.6 billion dollars.

Weekend Box Office Report (July 6th - July 8th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp ($76.03 Million): Zipping into the number one spot with a cool 76 million is Ant-Man and the Wasp. The 20th MCU film, and the 20th MCU in a row to be in the number one spot in the box office, this is a monumental film for Marvel as it reaches the close of Phase 3, as well as the end of the first era of the Cinematic Universe we have come to love. Look for this film to have strong legs and hit about 300 million dollars domestically, and about 600-700 million worldwide.

2. Incredibles 2 ($29.02 Million): Stealing the spot from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and jumping over it, Incredibles 2 continues to chug along towards a billion dollars internationally. The film appears to be garnering huge repeat value, and I think it can stay in the top 3 or 4 for the next two or three weeks, at least until the next few blockbusters hit theaters.

3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($28.59 Million): Taking a slight dip, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom falls to the number 3 spot. While it will remain in the top 5 for a long while, it may end up slowing down as July winds to a close. Look for it to comfortable make another 100-200 million total, but not come close to the first film.

4. The First Purge ($17.15 Million): The latest film in the Purge series comes out to a modest 17 million, which is good for a small, indie franchise like this. It will drop of soon, but it will probably make its budget back within a week or two.

5. Sicario: Day of the Soldado ($7.30 Million): This film is not being received well. Simply because it is a known IP is it in the top five, but don't expect it to make anywhere near a few million dollars more than the first one.

How Did I Do (Weekend Box Office Predictions): 5/5.

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (July 6th - July 8th)

Weekend Box Office Report Predictions (July 6th - July 8th)

Every Friday, I look at the films opening this week as well as the films that have already opened to predict which films will be in the top 10. Let's take a look.

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp: This was a no-brainer; the latest film in the MCU exceeded all expectations when it came to Thursday night previews, outgrossing both Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy. This film will easily head into the number one spot.

2. The Incredibles 2: While Incredibles 2 landed in the number two spot last week behind Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, I think that it will keep it spot and jump over the dinosaur film. I think that the large positive word-of-mouth will boost The Incredibles 2 over Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom: While the film will still make a good bit of money, it's going to drop off slowly but surely at the domestic box office. It's going to drop below Incredibles 2 simply because it wasn't as positively received.

4. The First Purge: The other new film opening this weekend that will crack the top five, I think that The First Purge has enough fans to boost it into the top five in its opening weekend.

5. Sicario: Day of the Soldado: This was the hardest spot for me to decide. I didn't know which film would come into the number five spot. However, simply because there are no other big releases this weekend, I'm going to go with the film that's most recent and made the most money, which was Sicario: Day of the Soldado. THAT BEING SAID, this spot could go to essentially any movie, from Uncle Drew, to Deadpool 2

Weekend Box Office Report (June 29th - July 1st)

Weekend Box Office Report (June 29th - July 1st)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($60.00 Million): While Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom remains atop the box office list, it did take a massive 60 percent drop from weekend to weekend, the largest in franchise history. While the raw number may not reflect that, still making 60 million dollars, if this film continues down that downward trajectory, then it may have to solely rely on their international numbers to pull them past the billion dollar mark and beyond. Luckily, it seems that their international friends are helping out in a big way.

2. Incredibles 2 ($45.55 Million): Continuing to chug right along, it's impressive that Incredibles 2 can keep pace with Jurassic World 2 and be a week ahead of it. The film made another 45 million, making it already one of the most lucrative films for Pixar to date, and well-deserved as this film is masterful in almost every way. At 600 million, it remains to be seen whether or not it can hit a billion, but one thing is for sure; it's going to get close.

3. Sicario: Day of the Soldado ($19.02 Million): A rather disappointing debut for the sequel to the Oscar-caliber first film starring Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro. From all accounts, this film flopped critically and had not even half the appeal that the first one had, leading to its lackluster, languid debut. While the first film only made around 80 million dollars, the sequel may not even be able to surpass that.

4. Uncle Drew ($15.50 Million): A weird, niche kind of film in Uncle Drew did well to stick itself in the number four spot with a solid 15.5 million. To me, this film looked like it had absolutely no appeal, but with a 2/3 majority (67 percent on Rotten Tomatoes), enough people went out to go see it. Will they next week? Doubtful.

5. Ocean's 8 ($8.06 Million): Finally, rounding out the list is Ocean's 8, dropping form number 3 to number 5, though it's still surpassing all expectations. With this kind of money, it won't be long before Warner Bros. green-lights a sequel because this movie is making bank for them at 210 million dollars worldwide on a 70 million dollar budget.

Weekend Box Office Report (June 22nd - June 24th)

Weekend Box Office Report (June 22nd - June 24th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($150.00 Million): The latest installment in the Jurassic Park franchise hit theaters with a thunderous roar. Albeit, not as much as its predecessor, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom still made a very impressive amount opening weekend; we'll have to wait and see what its legs are like considering the lukewarm (at best) critical reception.

2. Incredibles 2 ($80.93 Million): One of the highest grossing animated films to date (and it's only on its second weekend), Incredibles 2 will have huge legs as it looks to hit the billion mark at the box office.

3. Ocean's 8 ($11.65 Million): The latest film in the Oceans franchise is also making some good money as it hits its third weekend. While it didn't make a ton of money on its opening weekend, it blew away all projections and looks to make a huge profit.

4. Tag ($8.20 Million): The small film that no one saw coming starring Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm, Tag is hanging around as well. Critics praised the film as a fun time at the theaters, and clearly audiences are responding.

5. Deadpool 2 ($5.25 Million): Surprisingly, even though it faced competition like Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story, Deadpool 2 has stuck around at the box office and is in the number five spot. While nothing much is coming next weekend, by the time Ant-Man and the Wasp comes to town, Deadpool 2 will be knocked out of hte top 5 for sure.
