Edge of Tomorrow 2 to be the Final Film in the Franchise

With the critically, but not financially, successful first film Edge of Tomorrow or Live, Die, Repeat, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, Doug Liman, the director, has confirmed recently that the sequel, called Live, Die, Repeat ad Repeat will be the second, and final film in the franchise. Speaking to MTV, Liman said:

"I see this as a two-movie franchise. There's the completion of the story we set up in the first movie and the relationships between Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, because, remember, at the end of the first movie, she doesn't know who he is, and that's gonna launch us into an amazing new direction. It does actually pick up right where we left off, bu tit doesn't keep going forward, because we'd screw with time, because the aliens screwed with time."

Liman has also confirmed that this will be a prequel of sorts, picking up where the first left off, but will detail events that happened before. This personally speaks to me because of the fact that studios are green lighting sequels left and right without any end in sight, but Liman seems to have a handle on direction and storyline for the franchise.

Live, Die, Repeat and Repeat does not have a release date. It is going to be directed by Doug Liman and will star Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
