Weekend Box Office Report (June 7th - June 9th)

Weekend Box Office Report (June 7th - June 9th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. The Secret Life of Pets 2 ($47.11 Million): While the film didn't do quite as well as the first, The Secret Life of Pets, the film took the number one spot at the box office, beating a major comic book film for the first time in awhile. Look for it to be dethroned when Toy Story 4 hits theaters.

2. Dark Phoenix ($33.00 Million): Dark Phoenix bombed. There's absolutely no way around it. The film, which was the final X-Men team movie before Disney gets the characters back, will be in the top five for a week or so, but not for a lot longer.

3. Aladdin ($24.50 Million): Aladdin is flying sky-high. Aladdin is tearing up the box office in ways that Dumbo couldn't, and in my opinion, deservedly so. The film has proven it has legs, and looks to be going strong through the rest of the summer. 700 million? Not out of question.

4. Godzilla: King of the Monsters ($15.40 Million): If this film were good, this film could've been in the number three, even number two spot EASILY. But the fact is that the sequel is not being received well, and thus, the box office results reflects that.

5. Rocketman ($14.00 Million): Rocketman will not have legs for much longer, but it will do well. It will continue to make money at the box office, but again, let's not kid ourselves; it will not be the next Bohemian Rhapsody

How Did I Do (Weekend Box Office Predictions)
Number of Films Correct: 5/5
Number of Films IN RIGHT SPOT Correct: 5/5 (The Secret Life of Pets 2, Dark Phoenix, Aladdin, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Rocketman)
