Weekend Box Office Report (July 6th - July 8th)

Weekend Box Office Report (July 6th - July 8th)

Disclaimer: Every Monday, I will post the top five movies that grossed the most money DOMESTICALLY (in the United States), with some brief thoughts about each film.

1. Ant-Man and the Wasp ($76.03 Million): Zipping into the number one spot with a cool 76 million is Ant-Man and the Wasp. The 20th MCU film, and the 20th MCU in a row to be in the number one spot in the box office, this is a monumental film for Marvel as it reaches the close of Phase 3, as well as the end of the first era of the Cinematic Universe we have come to love. Look for this film to have strong legs and hit about 300 million dollars domestically, and about 600-700 million worldwide.

2. Incredibles 2 ($29.02 Million): Stealing the spot from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and jumping over it, Incredibles 2 continues to chug along towards a billion dollars internationally. The film appears to be garnering huge repeat value, and I think it can stay in the top 3 or 4 for the next two or three weeks, at least until the next few blockbusters hit theaters.

3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($28.59 Million): Taking a slight dip, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom falls to the number 3 spot. While it will remain in the top 5 for a long while, it may end up slowing down as July winds to a close. Look for it to comfortable make another 100-200 million total, but not come close to the first film.

4. The First Purge ($17.15 Million): The latest film in the Purge series comes out to a modest 17 million, which is good for a small, indie franchise like this. It will drop of soon, but it will probably make its budget back within a week or two.

5. Sicario: Day of the Soldado ($7.30 Million): This film is not being received well. Simply because it is a known IP is it in the top five, but don't expect it to make anywhere near a few million dollars more than the first one.

How Did I Do (Weekend Box Office Predictions): 5/5.
