Birds of Prey - Teaser Review
A short teaser for Birds or Prey has arrived. Does it deliver?
Thoughts: The footage was brief, so I'll make this brief as well. I don't think this new footage did anything for the film, but I don't think it necessarily hurt it either. This was more like test footage that was cut to be a short teaser. You only really saw shots of Harley Quinn and her co-stars. Harley Quinn is looking different, with new makeup, a new costume, and a little sharper look. But it's still Margot Robbie and it's still the Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad.
We get a brief, brief look at Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, but there appeared to be nothing substantial that came from that brief look. Birds of Prey doesn't come out for nearly a year; what was the point of releasing a teaser now? The excitement is going to die down and everyone's going to forget. Granted, it's not like this trailer showed a ton of footage that DC is going to regret putting out so early, but there was no point either.
Did it Raise Excitement? Not excitement, necessarily. But intrigue? Curiosity? Absolutely. The fact that we are seeing footage from this film so early is interesting. Perhaps it shows DC has confidence in the movie? Maybe. Maybe it shows desperation. Whatever it may be, this trailer wasn't bad. But it didn't seem necessary either.
