Solo Crumbles at Box Office, Infinity War Nearing $2 Billion
Avengers: Infinity War, arguably one of the best films in the MCU, and certainly the most shocking, is nearing another milestone. As of today, June 3rd, the blockbuster has made 1.965 billion dollars, and looks to hit the historic 2 billion dollar mark sometimes this coming week. It is just about 100 million dollars behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens; it remains to be seen if it can catch the Star Wars film, but it will need a great push internationally in order to pass the film.
Speaking of Star Wars, Solo: A Star Wars Story, is plummeting at the box office. As of today, June 3rd, has made just about 265 million dollars worldwide, and has just surpassed Infinity War's opening domestic gross. With the estimated budget being somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 million, plus additional marketing and theater cuts, it looks like Solo has its work cut out for it to break even, especially considering the 77 percent drop between weekends. The Force has to be strong with this one in order for it to do well.
Solo: A Star Wars Story and Avengers: Infinity War are in theaters now.
